OMANGA HUARAHI

The whole school joins in with this dressed in our House colours.  We have a parade through the street first to advertise the school and its activities.  We then assemble on the tennis courts and the age groups are started by Mr Major.

We have our street race because:
  1. we like to be fit.
  2. we have fun doing it.
  3. we raise money through our sponsorships.
  4. we have to select a team to represent us at the interschool crosscountry.
This year I felt a bit old to participate but---maybe next year?  Maybe not.

Assembling.

TOKU MAHI NA SAMANTHA

My Summer Holiday
In the holidays I went to Kaikoura with my mum and dad. We went for 2 weeks. We had Christmas there. I got a water slide. We caught a lot of koura and ika.  I saw heaps of seals. It was fun.

After we came back from Kaikoura I went to the Gold Coast in Australia. When I got to Dream World the first ride I went on was the claw. It was exciting.

Good post Samantha

I NGA HARARAE

In the holidays I went to Puponga with my friend Dylan and his little brother Myles. They stayed the night first.  Dylan slept in my room.  We talked and talked.  Finally we went to sleep.  A tera ra we packed up and left.  It was a roa trip over Takaka hill.  We arrived at wha karaka.  We unpacked and pitched the tent.  Next we watched a movie on Dylan's portable DVD player.  The next day we went down to the beach and made a sandcastle.  That night Dylan and I played Battleship.  The day after that we went to Tata beach for a bonfire.  We toasted marshmallows and had pasta.  I found out when you put dried seaweed on the fire it crackled.  Th next day we went home.

I NGA HARIREI
ONE AFTERNOON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HOILDAYS I WENT TO THE SEABATHS WITH MY NANA MUM AUNTY AND MY COUSINS.   IT WAS  A HOT SUNNY DAY TO HANG OUT WITH MY COUSINS  AT THE BEACH.   EVEN THOUGH THE DAY WAS HOT THE PUNA KAUKAU WAS FREEZING COLD.  WE WERE SWIMMING IN THE PUNA KAUKAU TO DIVE FOR COCKLES WHEN THE TIDE WAS COMING IN.  AT THE SEABATHS WE JUMPED OFF THE HIGH WALL. IN THE PUNA KAUKAU I WAS A LITTLE BABY JELLYFISH AND SOME LITTLE BABY WHITEBATE.                                             HE PAI A AU TE HAERE KI TE TAKUTA.......

                             KAPAHAKA FUN DAY.

On kapahaka fun day we performed kapahaka to the audience and  we sang heaps of songs.  My favourite song was Hiremangaewe and Otinga and after our performance we got out of our kapahaka clothes and and put our shoes on.

You are a good independent worker Tiara and I enjoy having you in my blogging class.  Well done.  Kia kaha to Mahi na Kaumatua Pariana.

We went to Kaiteriteri beach for a swim with mum dad nana CAROL aunty ANGEL and cousin TRE and when we first jumped in it was freezing cold.  We got a free ride on one of the boats and after we had a swim we went on the flying fox and the first time I went on I fell off and bumped my head but I felt better after a while.

    IN THE WEEKEND

I went shopping in Nelson because Mum gave me $30.00 for the weekend and I bought shoes, a hat and some new books to look at because they were only10cents each so I bought four. The shoes that I bought cost $10. Their colour was black and white and my hat was pink and white.

    OUR FAMILY REUNION

In the holidays I went to Picton  early in the morning with Manaaki, Hinekura, Mum and Papa. We went to meet Kui and Koko.  We had three hours to spend together in Picton and then they took me back on the ferry to Welington . We drove from Welington to Otaki and when we got to Kui's house Kareariki, Aunty Ngahuia and Nana Mara were there. Kareariki looked so different since I had last seen her.
Two days passed and  we went to Auckland on a bus, to our whanau reunion. It took about 11 hours from Otaki to Auckland. When we got there we had a powhiri to welcome everyone on to the marae.
That night we got put in to groups of families to do jobs. The second  day we went on a trip around
some interesting land marks of Ngati Whatua. The third day we went to Kelly Tarltons  in Auckland and it was soooo cool there.  I even saw the giant squid. I also saw a sting ray which was really big. that night I slept at my aunty teao's holiday house.  the fourth day we stayed at the marae all day. The last we returned to Otaki on the bus. My holiday was awesome.

Mount Arthur is a mountain near Motueka.
It is a a beautiful Mountain that has an amazing walk that is quite long to walk up. I have walked up it one time and it was a life changing experience.    It was wonderful. When there is snow on it it is awesome because you get to play in the snow. When you look out you can see Motueka, Nelson and Takaka.  It is really big.
