TOKU MAHI NA RICCARDO

My name is Riccardo and I came from Lower Hutt, Wellington.  I love lots of sports like rugby, hockey, soccer, badminton, and lots more.  The school I came from was Avalon Intermediate which was a pretty cool school.  My home town is Napier.  I have five brothers and four sisters.  Most of my brothers and sisters were born in Tokoroa and Rotorua and I was the only one born in Napier.

LOWER HUTT

I NGA HARARAI

In the holiday we did everything like, rugby, fishing, went to my friends,
the skate park and the river.  But first we wanted to do all of those all in one day.  So Roger ,Liam,  Tuhi, William, Carlos,  Zion, Chloe, Thomas and I did do all those. But the problem was how were going to get the transport, so we decided to take the bikes to the skate park.  We had about five bikes my bike, Tuhi, Roger bike, Liam bike ,and William bike, we all took turns.Once we got there we were trying new things like going over the spine but that was the hardest part but some of us could do it.  After like an hour we got bored we went to the river.  We could'nt double everyone.  Some of us hate to walk. It took us like two hours to get to the Elephant Rock, it was awesome.  When we got there, there were good as bombing holes.  But the thing was we needed to check if it was safe and how to get down there but we had to go all the way around to check if there were no rocks.  It took us about fifteen minutes to get down there and back up but that was half an hour so we only swam for about an hour, then we got out.  When we were walking back with the bikes I tripped and stubbed my toe and my elbows.
It was sore.  As we got back home I put a nice ice pack on my scrapes then we had a big barbecue which was delicious then we all watched movies and went to sleep as we were watching the movie and that was my holiday.

 KAPA HAKA TURANGAWAEWAE FESTIVAL

On the kapa haka turangawaewae festival we did a big performance for the school and the community.  I did a song and the song was Aint no sunshineSome of the older kids did a performance the Haka that they did was awesome as.

Good work Riccardo.  Koro Brian

Pole vault is where athletes must use a pole to jump over as high as they can with out knocking the pole. Also there are lots of other events like throwing events like discus/shot put and javelin they are all throwing events.

I nga Harirei

I nga harirei 2 weeks after tauhou my whanau and went swimming at lee valley in Brightwater.
Because Mum wanted to swim somewhere else instead of the usual spot at Maitai The Blackhole
or Tahunanui Moana because of the flooding in the sewage pipes. It was a very wera day so Mum
went to Brightwater. As we arrived there alot of the locals and Travellers went swimming there.
I haere ahau ehoa haere ki te kaukau my mum said. My whanau and I made some friends well
my mum did with a few wasted people and alot of the kids as well.   While we were there we ran
to the cliffs and we saw that we could run and jump off into the River. Soon the sun started going down
and the water started going cold. After a long day of swimming the water had cooled me down.
Now I was shaking in my warm fluffy towel. We left Lee Valley and started driving home.

Good narrative Canaan.  Now for a web picture.   Need to get on with the next topic.  BW

 Kapa haka ,Turangawaewae Festival
On 8th of March the Whanau classes sang songs to the people that came to enjoy the food and singing. We sang Utaina, E Te kokara,  Manawamai, Anei ra te Kura and Haere mai nga iwi.
Over all that was a fun day.

Kia Oro Canaan.  Kia Kaha to Mahi.  na Kaumatua Pariana

Lee valley
Lee Valley is a great scenic place, also good to have a picnic with family and friends. The water is refreshing and just waiting to cool down sweaty hot kids.  It is a great place to stop and rest

Did you know?
The Aniseed river and Lee river join to make Lee valley but the Aniseed river is colder.

Now for a picture, Canaan.

KAPA HAKA  FUN DAY November 2012

On Thursday we performed in the Kapa Haka Fun Dday at the memorial hall .  The special Whanau items were Haere Mai, Ko Koe Ra, poi, haka, Manawa Mai and He Honore. When we performed the crowd went wild. I was smiling. My favourite part was the haka.

KAPA HAKA AT THE TURANGAWAEWAE FESTIVAL  8/3/13

On Friday the 8th of March 2013 the Whanau class  performed at the Turangawaewae Festival. The songs we sang were Utaina, Haere Mai Nga Iwi, E Te Kokara, Anei Ra Te Kura and Hutia Te Rito. After we finished performing we went to go have fun. At the festival there were 2 bouncy castles and go karts to play on.  And to eat there was Aunty Mere's famous fried bread, hangi, Indian food, toffee apples and other stuff.  A favourite memory of the night for me was when I was on the bouncy castle packed with heaps of people. My favourite food was Aunty's fried bread. I ate 3 or 4!!

I like climbing really high trees. Once I climbed up this high cliff at Nelson creek and jumped off it into the river. It was fun, there was a rope to help you up. At the top it looked really high.
I love doing competitions. One competition I did with my brother was handstands on the wall. We were practising for gymnastics and we got a wee bit carried away. We ended up versing each other every night.

MATARIKI

Matariki is 7 stars shining bright before night only when its sun rise.
In the morning when its not bright but just right matariki shins bright.
the people touch light
matariki is that light not many people know but matariki is a constellation that glows.               once a year matariki will always be back here.

Weightlifting

The basics of weightlifting is...
Getting the highest score by beating every one else.

Judging
The athlete has to get a two out of three to make it to the next lift

medal events
There are diffrent weights for men and women.

type of lifts
There are the snatch and the clean and jerk

winning in weightlifting
This is all about strength.   You must choose how much kg you need.   The more you lift, the more you'll beat

HOLIDAY RECOUNT

In the holidays I  went to my dads for 1 week.
When I got there I gave every one a big hug.
A couple of days later Dad gave us a ride on the digger and I was picking up dirt, rocks and other things.  I Almost tipped the digger over.
When I was in there he told me he had been crushing and chucking his old car around and I got to have a tiny go to. And while I was there I got to play with the piglets. Too bad that their mother died. She had 9 piglets, 7 boys 2 girls. Anyway it turns out that the cute piglets are truly hungry cannibals. The 2 girls were smarter then the boys. I was hiding in my sister's jersey and the pig  undid the zipper and took a bite of my foot. It hurt but I could take it.

2013 holidays

Otira is a small village about 3 hours from Arthurs Pass. On the way we went to Pelorus. When we got to Otira we played with our dad's cross bow but never hit the target. I got to see a very exciting action movie called Jack Reacher. I went to work with my dad. We left at 7:00a.m,  so early.  On my huri tau I got a moto pika but we didn't get to use it. Then back to our whare in Motueka with a pit stop at Nelson awa. I did a couple bombs. When I got home straight away I was handed $60 from Mum for my birthday. I tried to save it but I couldn't .I spent it on a phone and lots of lollies. I am  also going to be an uncle because my step sister is pregnant. Yes I will soon be an uncle. Ka wani ke!
