                        My interest of art

My most favourite thing to do is draw scetches of things.
I like to do origami and paint anything that comes to my mind.

At school, my class is doing art. We are doing a portrait of ourselves.  Before that, we where doing mahi toi  basic drawing.

In my mahi toi I drew a fantail, harakeke flax, a marae, a kiwi and a Maori design. It took me about three weeks to do it.

My self protrait is finished. My teacher Whaea Sharman helped me.
It took me about three weeks as well. Doing my portrait was harder than doing my mahi toi because we needed to copy from a photo and draw it to scale as well as add more detail. It was hard drawing my mouth because i was smiling and showing my teeth.

Currently, I'm working on tapa designing. We had to make sure it showed reflection and rotation. It took me such a long time to draw this because my design was really intricate. To top it off at the end I had to screw it up!! Now I'm waiting to stain it with either coffee or tea.

                          book week

During book week it was about getting kids to like reading.
My school had to dress up as a book character from an island  themed book. When we dressed up for book week  my whole school went on a parade. I dressed up as an island girl and I had a great time.
We thank Whaea Becky for all the work she put into book week and for making it so much FUN!

Time for celebration with your family.

After Matariki days are longer.

Really special because Matariki comes out once a year.

If  Matariki is bright its going to be a good year for growing crops

Kumara and other veges.

It signals the start of the maori new year.

MY HOLIDAY

It was the school holidays and it was going to be 2 weeks long.
I was going to have to go to mums work,oh yippee but this all changed when I found out I was going to see the Makos.
I got so exited I couldn't stop talking.
At school we had to work hard to get our names in the box for the competition .
I tried so hard , and on the last day when they called the winning names mine didn't get called out in fact extra names got drawn out still not mine.
But the day before the event my teacher rang me up and talked to my mum she asked my mum if I could go and I could.
I went with haere-po, had I great time we massaged them, got a poster,a goody bag and they signed staff it was Awesome.

     I  NGA HARAREI

I nga hararei taku mama, papa me tungane went to Tamakimakaurau for tekau days. We were on the plane for 1 hour and 10 minutes. We got to the tamakimakaurau airport and our friend came to pick us up. We went to her Mum and Dads house to have lunch. The next day we went to Rainbows End with some friends. I was so harikoa my favourite whakawai was the Fairfall. The Fairfall is like going on an elevator but you sit in seats and they lock you up so nobody falls out, when you're in the seats and  ready, it takes you slowly up to the top of the whakawai then it drops.  When you nearly get to the bottom it slows down then you get off. The third day we went to my Uncle's house to stay for about 6 days. We had a HANGI for dinner which was delicious. When our tekau days were over my other Uncle came to pick us up from the Nelson airport. And that was my holiday.

TURANGAWAEWAE FESTIVAL

It was the Turangawaewae festival I did a performance with my my class and the taina and potiki (I'm in the whanau) We did about 5 songs at the start of the festival,Haere mai nga iwi, Anie ra, Utaina were one of the three songs we sang the performance was great  but I did have butterflys at the start.
At the turangawaewae festival there were lots of stalls and my favourite was Aunty Mere's fried bread YUMMY!

  Going to Kaiteriteri

I love going to Kaiteriteri because the beach has lovely water to kaukau in, and I like the cafeteria, chips and coco. YUMMY !!! When it's sunny the sight of Kaiteriteri is beautiful. Imagine this, the sun reflecting off the whakarei water. The golden sand of Kaiteriteri takes your breath away at first sight.
A track goes up a hill.   The trees on the track, as tall as a building,  whoosh to and fro in the wind. At the bottom of the track it leads to another beach called Little Kaiteriteri. but back to just Kaiteriteri where you can play mini golf, go on the flying fox and there are two barbecues,   so that's why I love Kaiteriteri.
The view of Kaiteriteri

Omanga huarahi

Why we do it:
  1. for fitness
  2. fun
  3. to raise money so we can get new equipment
  4. to chose a team to go to Rabbit Island

How I went in the race

The year 6 boys and girls were first we all had to start together I  had to run around the school field (we all did),out of the school grounds, down Pah street then turned right still in Pah street, ran to the end of the roud and  turned right again,Rochelle was further down the street she was by a path that lead to the crossing near our school mr T was at the crossing helping people cross, I ran on the path out side the school grounds turned left. I ran through the gate and ran to the marshaling area wear it says year 6 boys and girls.
they told me I came third so I was going to Rabbit Island.
